More Side Content! Moth to the Moon Updated to Version 1.3!

Sue is back with another big update to her puzzle game! This update is packed with the remainder of the object and enemy types that I had planned for use in the levels and also adds Sue's secret sketchbook, an optional bonus that contains many different scenes from the main scenario as illustrated and explained by Sue herself. In addition, I spent a very long time sniffing around for obscure glitches and fixed a multitude of issues that managed to elude detection until now. I even caught a game crash involving the new content just minutes before preparing to upload this latest update.

The main feature of this update is an expansion of the existing level editor. In the past, only single-screen stages were possible to create, but three new stage sizes have now been added for those designers with aspirations of creating truly massive puzzles. Bars have been added above and to the left of the template to represent the current region being displayed in the template, which has not changed size-wise. Additionally, five new objects have been added to the list of available objects to use in custom stages; one block type, two item types, and two enemy types are included with this update. All of these new objects have generally more complex interactions than the already-existing objects and are suited for creating more complicated stage layouts.

The other big addition to the game is completely new. The extra content section of the menu is finally accessible and now contains the main bonus feature, Sue's secret sketchbook! The sketchbook currently features ten pages, with an additional ten planned over the course of future updates. Pages of the sketchbook are initially locked and can be unlocked by increasing your speed rating, which can be done by earning time medals in the main scenario by completing stages quickly enough. The sketchbook documents Sue's thoughts on her various adventures with her own drawings and captions as she climbs Bloodsiphon Tower. Here's your chance to learn about what goes on in Sue's mind!

I didn't have the time to add any additional levels to the main scenario with this update, so the number of stages to clear currently remains at 24. I will try to focus on adding more puzzles to the main game for the next time; in the meantime, however, you are free to mess around in the level editor and check out all the new additions that will be appearing for the future latter half of the main scenario! I hope you enjoy the contents of this latest update! Be well and stay safe, everyone.

== VERSION 1.3 CHANGES ==

  • The extras menu has finally been implemented! At the moment, the only feature in there is Sue's secret sketchbook. Increase your speed rating and complete certain stages in the main scenario to unlock pages of the sketchbook, featuring illustrations and captions by Sue herself! (Okay, not really, but let's pretend...) With this version, there are a total of 10 pages to unlock.
  • Three new, larger level sizes have been added! Prepare to start seeing some bigger puzzles in the top half of Bloodsiphon Tower. Because levels can now be larger than a single screen, the screen will remain centered on Sue as she moves around; in addition, while the game is paused, you may use the arrow keys to freely look around the entire level. The stage editor has also been modified to be compatible with the new level sizes.
  • One block, two items, and two enemies have been added and are available for use in the stage editor!
  • A crash-inducing glitch that would occur if the player simply waits for the time to run out without ever selecting a panel in Bombin' Bob's boss stage has been fixed.
  • A bug that caused the game to display level start text instead of success or failure text and attempt to resume normal gameplay if the player managed to finish or fail a level without ever letting go of the Z key to activate wand controls has been fixed.
  • A bug that caused Sue to temporarily enter a glitchy state if she was using the wand when the platform she was standing on got destroyed has been fixed.
  • A bug that caused soldier beetles to temporarily be able to fall through platforms when they are in the process of turning around and the block underneath them is removed has been fixed.
  • A bug that allowed an object to be placed and exist at the same location that a falling object is about to land at has been fixed.
  • An oversight that caused the internal count of placed enemies in the level editor to not reset after loading a level has been corrected.
  • Totems will no longer immediately activate as soon as the game transitions into a level if they're already placed on top of an altar. Instead, they'll activate when the level timer starts.
