Meet the Master! Moth to the Moon Updated to Version 1.2!

I'm finally back with a big update for Moth to the Moon! There's quite a lot of new content to get into with this update, especially with the addition of seven puzzle stages and two brand-new, unique boss encounters to challenge you! With these new stages, the main scenario now introduces all of the existing items that previously could only be experimented with in the custom stage editor. The new boss encounters have been programmed from scratch and offer more diversions from the usual puzzle-solving; the second boss presents you with a minigame of sorts, similar to the first boss, but the third boss will throw you into a real battle against the tower's master using the standard gameplay controls and mechanics!

Aside from gameplay, visuals have been another major focus of this update. There are several new and more detailed stage backgrounds to replace the old backgrounds in the hopes of having the game look and feel a little more lively. The on-screen text could be difficult to read in certain situations, so a black backdrop has been added behind the text to ensure that it will  never be camouflaged by the object sprites. The transitions between sections of the tower in the level selection menu have been redone as well; the view now gradually scrolls vertically to give you a better sense of how high you're actually going!

Bloodsiphon Tower is starting to get rather tall and takes more time to walk up and down normally, so to be able to get around the place more quickly, a quick level selection window has been added. By pressing Enter on the level selection menu, you'll be able to select any available floor to teleport directly to. The arrow keys change the selected floor, the Z key takes you to the selected floor, and the X key backs out of the window without moving you, should you change your mind.

Finally, two small changes have been made to help balance out the difficulty and make the game more accessible to players. Necro Joe, the Floor 8 boss who was present in the previous version, seemed to be giving several players a rough time; you now have a significant amount of extra time to complete his challenge before his shadows reach the bottom of the screen. Also, the hidden time limits that must be met in order to acquire time medals have also been adjusted and recalculated to be slightly more lenient than they previously were.

== VERSION 1.2 CHANGES ==

  • The number of stages in the main scenario is now up to 24! We're just about halfway to the planned number of stages...
  • A new interface to navigate stage selection has been added! Press the Enter key to open the window and use the arrow keys to select your desired floor. Press the Z key to transport directly to that floor. Press the X key to cancel and close the window.
  • The text guide that comes bundled in the game download has been expanded to cover time medals and secret artifacts and offer more information on how to utilize the stage editor.
  • The transition between different sections of the tower in the main scenario's stage selection has been redone. Now, when you walk up or down to another section of the tower, the screen will gradually scroll into the next section as opposed to the standard fade-out and fade-in effect.
  • Several new, more varied level backgrounds have been added in replacement of the old backgrounds.
  • The shadows in Necro Joe's boss stage now descend 50% more slowly than before, giving you additional time to complete the stage.
  • Cinematics have been altered slightly. Pressing Z now advances to the next screen of the cinematic, and pressing Enter now ends the cinematic. Cinematics no longer advance to the next screen automatically with the exception of the introductory cinematic.
  • The title logo on the main menu is now animated. The tradition must be carried on from Dark Space!
  • A new level theme has been added!
  • The stage completion requirements to unlock the boss stage doors have been reduced.
  • The per-level time requirements for achieving time medals have been adjusted to be slightly more lenient.
  • An issue with the soldier beetle's ability to detect Sue in certain situations on ground level has been rectified.
  • A bug causing Sue to always revert to her green color palette when using the whirlwind or waterlift spells regardless of the color palette currently in use has been corrected.
  • A bug causing the themed blocks and ladders to display improper sprite animations when the game is paused on the exact frame that Sue places them has been fixed.
  • The speed rank requirements for unlocking Sue's alternate clothing colors have been reduced. It's now possible to unlock all three available colors!
  • On-screen text is now displayed on top of a solid black backdrop to ensure that it doesn't blend into other light-colored sprites that may be present.
  • The sprites of the fixed blocks in the prison level theme have been made darker to contrast less with the other block types.
  • The project has been migrated from the old audio engine to the new audio engine just like its sibling project, Dark Space.
  • There are a few more minor inclusions...
